Free rice for poor

-

Nigeria (Commonwealth) _ The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has announced the distribution of more than one million (10 kg) bags of rice among all 774 local governments In Kano and Lagos, respectively in Nigeria.

The ADF Chairman and Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, was present at the opening ceremonies in Lagos and Kano. At the Flag-off ceremony in Kano, when 120,000 bags containing 10 kg of rice were distributed, Dangote vowed to do all within his power to assist the Nigerian government in eradicating poverty.

Additionally, Dangote stated that the food intervention program in Lagos, where 80,000 bags of 10 kg rice were delivered, proves the dedication of his foundation to preserving the compassion and solidarity that are fundamental to humankind. According to Dangote, the move is a critical step in easing the country’s ongoing economic difficulties.

Furthermore, he underscored the importance of compassion and generosity during the month of Ramadan and the necessity of collaboration among all stakeholders to support the government’s endeavors to eradicate hunger in the country. “The rice distribution represents our dedication to preserving the compassion and unity that are fundamental to our humanity.” The dietary intervention program, which will be led by ADF, will begin in March and last until early April 2024.

The governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, spoke at the flag-off ceremony in Kano and urged other wealthy Nigerians to follow in Aliko Dangote’s footsteps by helping the government provide palliatives to ease the harsh economic conditions in the nation. He said that on behalf of the good people of Kano State, he did not have enough words to express his sincere gratitude to Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

This is due to the fact that the act he is making today will surely lessen the load on the numerous families in our state that are experiencing financial difficulties. I encourage all other affluent people and companies in our neighborhood to follow the Dangote Group’s admirable example and do comparable acts of assistance to those in need.

In a same spirit, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated that the Foundation’s leadership places a higher priority on the wellbeing of the populace than the pursuit of profit and wealth creation. This is demonstrated by the distribution of 80,000 bags weighing 10 kg of rice.

Aliko Dangote is a Nigerian who has made the decision to be unique, according to the governor. You have options, but you have chosen wisely to take care of the weaker people. We are appreciative of Mr. Aliko Dangote’s assistance in government and I appreciate his kindness toward those at the bottom of the pyramid. Many regions of the world are experiencing significant global disruption, and being in a position of leadership is difficult right now, he remarked.

The governor added that giving food to the poor will help the state’s attempt to alleviate the consequences of the economic crisis, even as he urged other affluent Nigerians to follow in Dangote’s footsteps.

Speaking at both gatherings, Zouera Youssoufou, MD/CEO of the ADF, said the Foundation is working with reputable NGOs, civil societies, and religious organizations among others to make sure the donations reach the most disadvantaged in all of Nigeria’s states and local governments.

She stated that the Foundation’s mission is to enable Africans to realize their full potential and self-actualization since it feels that every person, no matter what their circumstances, should have the chance to prosper and reach success. Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) Group Executive Director of Commercial Operations Fatima Aliko-Dangote pointed out that the flag-off in Lagos is a follow-up to the distribution of 120,000 bags in Kano last Saturday. We’ve been doing this for a while, but we haven’t made it public since our chairman feels that this is something that should be between him and God. This year, however, we made the decision to do so in order to inspire and urge others to follow suit. The Dangote Foundation engages in a wide range of other activities. Every day, we also provide 2,500 breads around Lagos. We began this during COVID-19 in 2020.

“We have also been serving breakfast, lunch, and supper in our hometown of Kano for the past 35 years. The foundation has made several investments. We provided women with some funding years ago so they could invest in their enterprises,” the woman remarked.
