Ghana’s new High Commissioner seeks tourism investment opportunities in the Maldives!

Male, Maldives (CU)_ Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, the new High Commissioner of Ghana to the Maldives, has expressed a desire to explore tourism investment prospects in the Maldives. The newly appointed Ghanaian High Commissioner delivered his Letter of Credence to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Following the presentation of credentials, discussions were held in the President’s Office. President Solih welcomed the new high commissioner to the meeting and wished him on his appointment.

President Solih also expressed his desire to further strengthen the solid diplomatic ties between the two nations, which have existed for 33 years, by increasing bilateral and multilateral collaboration. The High Commissioner of Ghana thanked the President of the Maldives for appointing him as the new High Commissioner to the Maldives. He then detailed the mutually beneficial relationship between the two nations, notably in the agriculture and tourism sectors, and stated that Ghana could learn a great deal from the Maldives’ tourism business.

Consequently, he recommended seeking investment opportunities from Maldivian businesses to assist Ghana’s tourism industry. President Solih pledged his help for the growth of Ghana’s tourism industry, noting that the Maldives tourism sector, which was established in 1972, is commemorating its 50th anniversary this year. The Maldivian president continued by stating that the government was committed to encouraging sustainable tourism practices.

President Solih also revealed his desire to improve people-to-people interaction between the two nations, which he deemed necessary for boosting bilateral relations and growing commerce and investment. The parties reiterated their commitment to work together to improve areas of common concern in international forums. The Maldives and Ghana established their diplomatic relations on August 10, 1989.
