Kabul, Afghanistan (CWBN)_ Afghan National Security Forces have reported yesterday (10th Nov) that more than 58 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 25 others have been wounded following a series of crackdowns that were carried out in three provinces.

In Uruzan, 27 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 20 others were wounded during operations that took place in the Gizab and Dehrawood districts. It was reported that weapons and ammunition stockpiles have been ceased and two insurgent strongholds have been destroyed.

In addition, 11 insurgents were killed and 5 others were wounded in Siageerd, Parwan after a foiled Taliban attack against a security force outpost, and another 10 kills have been reported in Nahre Saraj, Helmand, having been targeted by the Afghan Air Force while preparing to orchestrate an attack of security force positions.

Although violence has surged in the past few months, resulting in the deaths of civilians, security force personnel, public servants, members of the militant group and damaging infrastructure, the Taliban have reiterated the necessity to uphold commitments made in support of the ongoing peace talks in statement.

“We remain committed to the agreement on our part and view it as a powerful basis for solving the Afghan issue, and we also give preference to solving our internal problems through dialogue and negotiations,” the Taliban stated.

The local government and media have unfalteringly accused the insurgent body of attempting to convince US President-elect Joe Biden to uphold the US-Taliban Agreement signed between the two parties in February under the Trump administration.

Moreover, addressing the annual Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit held yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the organisation’s members Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will continue to support peace and reconciliation efforts in Afghanistan.
