Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ In an industry where high pay is common, few celebrities stand out for their contributions. One of them is Mahesh Babu, a popular actor in Telugu films. While he is famous for his box-office hits and large fan base, his activities off-screen have also gained considerable recognition. Mahesh Babu, often called the “Prince of Tollywood,” is widely popular across the world. Each of his film premieres turns into a grand event, attracting huge crowds and excitement. Aside from the flash and glamour, he has quietly earned a reputation as one of India’s most generous actors.

Through his Mahesh Babu Foundation, the actor donates an estimated Rs 25–30 crore every year to various social causes, most notably, healthcare for children. A large portion of these funds goes toward providing free heart surgeries for underprivileged children. His foundation works in partnership with the Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute and the Pure Little Hearts Foundation. This program has already resulted in more than 4,500 life-saving cardiac operations. Additionally, Mahesh has also adopted two villages, Burripalem in Andhra Pradesh and Siddapuram in Telangana, to help with development, health, and education facilities. His humanitarian efforts go beyond gifts and include long-term assistance for underserved areas.

Despite his low-key approach to charity, Mahesh Babu’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. Earlier this month, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs granted FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) registration to his foundation. This will allow the Mahesh Babu Foundation to accept international donations, potentially expanding the reach of its social initiatives. According to an official from the ministry, it was among 389 organizations recently approved for FCRA status. Professionally, Mahesh’s journey began as a child actor in 1979. After years of playing minor roles, he made his debut as a leading man at the age of 24. Back-to-back victories defined his early career, with a brief break in 2007. He returned stronger than ever with successes such as Dookudu and Businessman, cementing his status as a great performer in South Indian films.

Even with his philanthropic focus, Mahesh lives like a true superstar. His net worth is reportedly around Rs 350 crore. He owns a luxury home in Hyderabad’s upscale Jubilee Hills, valued at Rs 30 crore, and a vanity van worth Rs 7 crore, purchased during the filming of Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. The actor is now working on a mega project directed by SS Rajamouli with a reported budget of Rs 1,000 crore. The production, which stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is set to be a worldwide spectacle. Mahesh Babu’s career is full of accomplishments, but his biggest impact may be the lives he saves behind the scenes.
