Hundreds of golden retrievers gathered in Scotland on July 13, 2023 to celebrate the 155th anniversary of the breed’s founding. The event, which was held at the Guisachan Estate of Lord Tweedmouth in the Highlands, was one of the largest gatherings of golden retrievers ever held.

The dogs and their owners came from all over the world, including the United Kingdom, continental Europe, North America, Australia, and Japan. They gathered to celebrate the history and heritage of the golden retriever breed, as well as to enjoy each other’s company.

The event featured a variety of activities, including workshops, talks, demonstrations, and a nighttime procession. There was also a chance for the dogs to compete in a variety of events, such as a best of breed competition and a golden retriever agility course.

The highlight of the event was a group photo of all the dogs. The photo, which was taken on the ruins of Guisachan House, featured 488 golden retrievers. It is believed to be the largest group photo of golden retrievers ever taken.

In addition to the activities mentioned above, the event was organized by the Golden Retriever Club of Scotland. The ruins of Guisachan House, where the golden retriever breed was first bred, were the backdrop for the event. The group photo of the 488 golden retrievers was taken by Darren Stocker, and the event was featured in a number of news outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and People magazine.

The Guisachan Gathering is held every five years. It is a chance for golden retriever enthusiasts from all over the world to come together and celebrate the breed. It is also a chance to learn more about the history and heritage of the golden retriever, and to enjoy the company of these wonderful dogs.
