USA (Commonwealth Union)_ Indian-American Republican leader Nikki Haley is anticipated to launch her candidacy for the 2024 US presidential election after sending invites for a special announcement event. Accordingly, her latest Twitter statement said, “My family and I have a big announcement to share with you on February 15th! And yes, it’s definitely going to be a Great Day in South Carolina!”

According to media sources, Haley believes that she may be the new leader to steer the country on a new path and that Joe Biden may not receive a second term as President of the United States. Her latest invitations for a special announcement on February 15 have sparked wide speculation that she might declare her candidacy for the 2024 US presidential race.

During a recent media interview, the former South Carolina governor and US ambassador to the United Nations shared her intention to compete for the upcoming presidency. She stated, “Well, when you’re looking at a run for president, you look at two things. Your first look at, ‘does the current situation push for new?’ The second question is, ‘am I that person that could be that new leader?’ You know, on the first question, you can look all across the board, domestic, and foreign policy. You can look at, you know, inflation going up, the economy shrinking, the government getting bigger, you know, small business owners not being able to pay their rent. Big businesses getting these bailouts, all of these things warrant that, yes, we need to go in a new direction”. She added, “So do I think I could be that leader? Yes, But we are still working through things and we’ll figure it out. I’ve never lost a race. I said that then I still say that now. I’m not going to lose now”.

The 51-year-old leader then recounted her professional achievements and added that as governor she took on a struggling state and transformed it into the beast of the Southeast. Then, as ambassador to the United Nations, she took on the world when they sought to dishonor them. Haley served as Trump’s United Nations ambassador throughout the first two years of his administration, from 2017 to 2018. If she runs for president, Haley will challenge her former head in the GOP primary. In November, Trump, the first president to be impeached twice, announced his third presidential candidacy. Haley, who departed from the Trump administration in October 2018, expressed satisfaction with her performance as governor and ambassador.

Haley, the second Indian descent Republican governor of Louisiana after Bobby Jindal, stated that the Republican Party needed fresh leadership. She reiterated throughout the interview that President Biden, a Democrat, should not be granted a second term. The upcoming presidential election in the United States will be held on November 5, 2024. Before joining the federal administration, Haley served from 2011 to 2017 as the governor of South Carolina. Previously, she also served in the state House of Representatives.

If she enters the presidency, Haley will be the first candidate to challenge former US President Donald Trump, who is the lone Republican candidate for the party’s 2024 candidacy. Haley has been signaling her presidential bid for some time now, portraying herself as a younger and more modern alternative to the previous president. Haley also made history as South Carolina’s first female governor when she entered office in January 2011 at the age of 39, which also made her the youngest governor in the US. Additionally, she served two terms as the first Indian-American governor of the state.
