ABUJA (CU)_the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally come out with a list of approved candidates for the upcoming elections in the country of Nigeria. Among the candidates that were named by the INEC was the Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege.

Earlier this week around 10pm at night a list of names of the candidates as well as their deputies were posted by the INEC offices around Nigeria as well as other members that can stand in the House of Assembly. This seems like a massive win as the battle for INEC began with a 900-page list which they still seem to be going to war with. All 36 states had sent in multiple options of equally qualified candidates making the picking of the quota number of governors a very difficult task. The INEC office stated that they are trying their very best to make sure that only the best candidates will be put forwards for the election.

Out of the above mentioned 36 states the INEC has only managed to settle candidates for 8 states. These states are Ogun, Delta, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Benue. The rest of the states are still being finalized and the INEC states that they will have the names hopefully by mid of this month.

Now the state of Ogun has submitted 12 governorship candidates which also includes All Progress Congress (APC) obligatory governor Dapo Abiodun who has been given the all clear for the race. However, there are some names missing from one of them being Ladi Adebutu who belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as his opposition running mate Adekunle Akinlabi.

There have been other parties that have submitted names of candidates such as The African Democratic congress (ADC), The Social Democratic Congress (SDC) New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), African Democratic Party (ADP) and Allied People’s Movement (APM).
