International diplomats laud Pakistan’s contribution towards regional stability

Rawalpindi, Pakistan (CU)_ International diplomats appreciated Pakistan’s initiatives in the regional peace process. The global envoys including European Union Ambassador Androulla Kaminara, Canadian High Commissioner Wendy Gilmour, and Danish Ambassador Lis Rosenholm met with Pakistan army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the military headquarters in Rawalpindi.

According to the official statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting had discussions of bilateral relations with EU and Canada. It said, “During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and enhanced bilateral cooperation with European Union (EU) and Canada came under discussion”.

According to military’s media, Gen Qamar expressed his interest in continuing smooth relations with EU and Canada. He stated, “Pakistan values its relations with EU countries and Canada and we earnestly look forward to enhance mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests”. According to the statement, the foreign delegates also praised Pakistan’s contribution towards regional stability, especially the Afghan peace process.

According to the ISPR, during the meeting, both sides committed to work towards improving diplomatic cooperation at all levels. General Sir Patrick Nicholas Yardley Monrad Sanders, Commander Strategic Command UK, visited General Qamar earlier this month and discussed regional security and mutual interests. According to the ISPR, the international diplomats recognized and appreciated the Pakistan Army’s genuine attempts in the battle against terrorism as well as efforts towards peace and stability in the region, particularly the Afghan peace process.
