Singapore (CU)_ In honor of International Women’s Day, Amazon Singapore says that empowering women and promoting their businesses is the secret to enhance Singapore’s economic potential. According to Amazon Singapore, rising gender equality in the workplace can contribute around S$26 billion to the nation’s GDP by 2025. As a result, its pioneers have tried in the face of adversity to build a sustainable future for everyone by creating employment and allowing financial freedom in their communities, as well as advocating for environmentally friendly business practices.
By sharing their inspiring stories and exclusive product offerings on a trusted platform, Amazon Singapore intends to encourage more entrepreneurs and customers to challenge gender conventions and promote local business owners, despite their gender, to involve in online sales and reach globally. For the next four weeks, the dedicated boutique on Amazon.sg will feature stories and goods from 12 women-owned companies, ranging from art supplies to baby and maternity products.
Bernard Tay, Head of Amazon Global Selling Southeast Asia, said, “Women are a critical force for Singapore’s economic progress and the growth of their businesses fuels our collective success. At Amazon, we are committed to offering equal opportunities for all sellers to help them unleash their entrepreneurial potential, regardless of their gender and background”. He added, “Amazon is proud to mark this year’s International Women’s Day by celebrating the resilience of women entrepreneurs and showcasing their success stories. We hope that their experiences will resonate with other entrepreneurs, encouraging them to #ChooseToChallenge gender conventions and grow their businesses globally with us”.
Apart from the dedicated storefront, Amazon is partnering with Enterprise Singapore to assist local sellers, including women-owned companies, in online sales and maximize their businesses globally. Enterprise Singapore will assist these initiatives with the Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) program, which will provide up to 70% of eligible costs for overseas promotion, overseas business growth, and overseas country set up, up to a limit of S$100,000 per new country. Woman entrepreneurs can now use Amazon.sg’s tools and services for their online sales, grow their businesses through 20 stores of Amazon across the world, and reach more consumers globally.
One of the featured seller is Beth Candice Wu, the founder of HoneySpree, a local gift company and a social enterprise that specializes in customizable mini honey jars. Beth said, “As an advocate for women upliftment and a mother myself, my mission has been to empower stay-at-home moms (SAHMs) to achieve financial independence while caring for their children”. As part of the IWD celebration, consumers can learn all about the featured entrepreneurs’ journeys and inspirations, shop their products on Amazon.sg, and take advantage of exclusive offers on select items starting from 5th March.
