_Sri Lanka_ Expanding the country’s main source of foreign revenue, the State Minister of Tourism, Diana Gamage has instituted an ‘Edu-Tourism’ program with the goal and future vision of encouraging international students to choose Sri Lanka as an option for their higher education.

INTI International University of Malaysia is currently at a discussion stage pertaining to the proposed establishment of a campus in Sri Lanka.

INTI International University and Colleges, established in 1986 in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, is a private institute that offers tertiary education in several locations in Malaysia. The university offers a wide scope of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees ranging from business, fashion design, hospitality /culinary arts, computing & IT, graphic design, interior design, mass communication, social sciences, biotechnology & life sciences, engineering, health sciences, and multimedia design.

Recently, officials from the INTI International University visited Sri Lanka to discuss the proposed collaboration of setting up an international branch in the island nation. Vice President of INTI International University, Jesus Cuevas Tinawin during a meeting with State Minister Diana Gamage, made the following remarks:

“We are keen to discuss with the authorities in Sri Lanka and private education institutes like Esoft and Horizon Campuses to set up our latest Campus in Sri Lanka. At INTI, we believe in an education that will empower you for life, and experience the quality education that prepares you to face the challenges in the global market.”

Reflecting on the Edu-tourism program that is currently being strategized in order to attract a key potential market of international students to pursue their higher education in Sri Lanka, State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage stated, “We have recently launched the ‘Edu – Tourism’ Program under our Ministry taking a further step to encourage overseas students to come to Sri Lanka for their studies. While they are studying they could also travel and explore Sri Lanka.”
