Bhatt, an Indian-American transportation specialist, has been named to the position of administrator of the Federal Highway Administration of the United States Department of Transportation by President Joe Biden.
Both the public and commercial transportation sectors hold Bhatt in high regard. Since 2021, he has served as AECOM’s senior vice president of global transportation innovation and alternative delivery. His prior positions include executive director of the Colorado department of transportation, cabinet secretary of the Delaware department of transportation, and presidential appointee at the United States department of transportation.
Bhatt has been an expert in the development of safe, sustainable, and economical transportation systems in the twenty-first century. His exceptional leadership roles include CEO of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, chairman of the board of the National Operations Center of Excellence, and chairman of the executive committee of the I-95 corridor alliance. Further, his active involvement in the World Economic Forum’s global agenda council on the future of automobiles and personal transportation is notable.
Shailen Bhatt graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics from Western Kentucky University and currently serves as the chairperson of an external advisory board for the US Department of Energy. He is also a member of the Aurora autonomous driving safety advisory council. It is anticipated that Bhatt will collaborate closely with the Biden-Harris government to form a successful administration.
