Tripoli, Libya (CWBN)_ Subsequent to the fall of the Gaddafi regime, the Libya was engulfed in conflict between militant groups and tribes from various parts of the country, however, following a prolonged peace process, the United Nations Mission in Libya has finally announced that a permanent ceasefire has been reached among the factions.

It has been described as an “important turning towards peace and stability in Libya” by UN Envoy, Stephanie Williams, who has been mediating peace talks between the warring parties.

The development happened just two days after, after Williams had announced that she was “quite optimistic” of the proceedings.

Moreover, the delegations have shown an intention to officially sign off on an agreement. Details regarding the event to be held in Geneva are yet to be released.
