Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (CU)_ According to Malaysia Productivity Corporation director general Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman, the country needs to be more proactive in following digital technologies to boost productivity in agreement with the government’s efforts to strengthen the digital economy.

He said the plan, which was made possible by initiatives described in the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint, was the prime force for increasing productivity, and that the government is expected to accomplish its goal of digital economy by 2025, contributing 22.6 percent of GDP. A statement from Abdul Latif said, “The government initiatives to weather the challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic have formed a foundation for the recovery and regrowth of Malaysia’s productivity and economy”.

As a result, he urged businesses to invest in new technologies, such as software, hardware, and digital security, to sustain their business models while also concentrating on increasing worker and organizational efficiency. He said, “The communication of government regulations such as for the purpose of licensing, guidelines and data that could facilitate business and public affairs should be digitalized”.

Abdul Latif also encouraged civil servants, entrepreneurs, and the general public to extend their digital technology skills and expertise. He added, “The question is: how do we seek and analyze existing information to improve or value-add to civil service, businesses and ourselves? These skills can lead to higher individual, organizational and national productivity”.
