Europe, Malta (Commonwealth Union) – Educational Technology (EdTech) aims to improve access to education, facilitate personalized learning, and increase student engagement and motivation. By integrating technology into the educational process, educators can create more interactive and dynamic learning environments, cater to diverse learning needs, and better prepare students for the digital age. Across the world both the governments and private enterprises have recognized its significance.

Economy, Enterprise & Strategic Projects Minister of Malta Silvio Schembri highlighted the paramount significance of EdTech in steering Malta’s trajectory towards the future during his address at the Times of Malta Business Breakfast. Emphasizing Malta’s dedication to leveraging EdTech’s transformative potential for economic robustness and competitive edge, he underscored the nation’s commitment.

The event acted as a nexus for collaboration and brainstorming, uniting stakeholders from diverse sectors to forge a proactive roadmap ahead.

“In an era defined by rapid technological advancement, embracing EdTech isn’t just a choice; it’s an imperative for progress, innovation, and sustained growth. EdTech has myriad benefits to offer, highlighting its role in revolutionizing traditional educational paradigms, transcending geographical boundaries, and democratizing access to high-quality education for learners of all ages and backgrounds,” explained Minister Schembri.

He elaborated on the diverse economic prospects that EdTech offers for Malta, spanning from job creation and exporting educational services to aiding SMEs and startups. These opportunities pave the way for economic expansion and diversification. He stressed Malta’s ambition to cultivate a thriving EdTech environment, aiming to spur job creation, attract foreign investments, and bolster workforce skills.

Highlighting collaborative efforts with entities like the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) and Malta Enterprise, Minister Schembri underscored Malta’s proactive stance in supporting EdTech innovation and entrepreneurship. He urged all stakeholders to seize the potential of EdTech and collaborate towards a brighter future for Maltese citizens.

He then affirmed the government’s dedication to advancing initiatives that drive innovation, economic progress, and social development in Malta, while prioritizing collaboration and technological advancement to enrich Malta’s ecosystem.
