Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ India is once again set to host the prestigious Miss World Pageant, as the 72nd edition of the event is scheduled to take place in Telangana in 2025. This international beauty festival, one of the oldest and most respected in the world, was established in 1951 in the UK. Initially run by Eric Morley, it was later co-chaired by his wife, Julia Morley, after his passing in 2000. India’s selection to host the event for the second time marks a significant milestone, reinforcing the country’s global influence and cultural richness. Accordingly, Telangana, India’s youngest state, has been chosen as the host destination for this renowned event.

The pageant will be held from May 7 to May 31, 2025, across various locations in Telangana, with the opening and closing ceremonies, including the grand finale, taking place in the capital city, Hyderabad. The state’s dynamic blend of history, culture, and modernity provides the perfect backdrop for the competition, drawing attention to its diverse heritage and vibrant contemporary atmosphere. This follows the successful staging of the 71st Miss World in New Delhi and Mumbai. Julia Morley, Chairwoman of the Miss World Organization, expressed her excitement in a statement, saying, “We are excited to see the 72nd Miss World Festival taking place in Telangana, India—a land where heritage meets innovation and beauty is celebrated in every form! A heartfelt thank you to Honourable CM of Telangana Mr. A. Revanth Reddy for his visionary leadership, unwavering support, and commitment to host us.”

The pageant, renowned for championing diverse representations of beauty and promoting humanitarian causes worldwide, continues to draw global attention. Telangana’s reputation for safety, tourist-friendly infrastructure, and its welcoming atmosphere were key factors in the decision to host this global contest. Representing India at the 72nd Miss World Pageant will be Nandini Gupta, the newly crowned Femina Miss India World 2023. The 21-year-old beauty from Rajasthan won the title on April 15, 2023, in a contest held in Imphal, Manipur, showcasing her beauty, intellect, and determination. As India’s official contestant, Gupta will take the stage in the hopes of bringing home the coveted crown.

Ms. Smita Sabharwal, Secretary to the Government of Telangana in charge of Tourism, Culture, Heritage, and Youth Affairs, also expressed pride in Telangana’s selection as the host state, welcoming the Miss World Organization to the region. “Telangana is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 72nd Miss World, welcoming the world to witness a land where beauty is not just what meets the eye; it is what resonates with its land, people, culture, and traditions,” she said. With Nandini Gupta representing India and the grandeur of Telangana as the stage, the 72nd Miss World Pageant promises to be a memorable celebration of beauty, culture, and global unity.
