Male, Maldives (CU)_ Maldives State Shipping (MSS) is initiating direct cargo service between Singapore and the Maldives, as well as Malaysia and the Maldives. According to MSS, these direct freight services are anticipated to start from July 2022. The corporation disclosed that it is preparing to provide direct cargo services between the Maldives and the Southeast Asian ports of Singapore and between Maldives and Port Kelang, Malaysia.
MSS also said that the ‘MSS Graphene,’ which is a newly purchased ship for the MSS fleet, will be delivered in July 2022. The firm announced that it will continue to expand the services to further industries. As a result, they emphasized that they had selected Singapore Port and Port Klang, Malaysia to the Maldives as their future trade regions.
According to Captain Abdullah Saeed, managing director of MSS, the company has ambitions to expand the direct cargo service to Middle Eastern ports in the coming months. Captain Abdulla Saeed, Managing Director, said, “MSS will continue to expand its services to other sectors, and we have chosen Singapore Port and Port Klang, Malaysia to the Maldives as our next trading area”.
MSS first began operations using a hired vessel with a capacity of 1118 TEUs and then transferred operations to their own vessel ‘MSS Galena’ beginning November 2021. MSS Galena is a multipurpose container ship with a carrying capacity of 680 TEUs. This vessel travels between Maldives and Colombo every ten days.
Liner Service, Feeder Operations, Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier Operations, Freight Forwarding, and Ship Agency Service are the current services offered by MSS. MSS services are accessible from major ports in Asia and the Gulf regions. The service will be launched with the ‘MSS Graphene’, which is a newly purchased vessel for the MSS fleet.
