North West territories in Canada experience record breaking temperature.

-

Weather experts say, the temperatures recently in the Northwest Territories exceeded when comparing with previous records. This was the worse wildfire season which Canada has experienced so far. By the harmful smoke millions of people have been affected.

After a single day record, the global average of 17.32C (63.17F) of the planet was surpassed twice earlier that same week.  Environment Canada meteorologist Jesse Wagar says seeing a temperature of 37.4C, Fort Good Hope in the Northwest Territories (NWT) saw the hottest temperature recorded that far north in Canada.

Ms. Wagar says that each summer is getting hotter and hotter. In the NWT, the top five temperatures what was recorded, from that four happened during the past eight years and three of those were during the last three summers.

Extreme-weather historian Christopher Burt, mentioned that with a temperature of 37.9C (100.2F), the mercury in the community of Norman Wells just south of Fort good Hope was just 0.1C less than the hottest temperature recorded for the near- Arctic region,

Ottawa’s all-time high temperature is 37.8C, according to Ontario-based Weather Network, which means that the temperature in Norman Wells was higher than the highest record seen in the city with a Iatitude 1,400 miles (2,250) to its south.

These temperature records have destroyed the previous records often by many degrees, says Ms. Wagar.

This present heat wave has attracted a lot of attention, but incredible temperature records were seen in May, June and July and temperature records are falling at a pretty significant rate.

The NWT has already seen 17 temperature records surpassed during the first nine days of July. 18 records were surpassed last year in July and 24 records were surpassed in June 2023 compared with four in June 2022.

According to Environment Canada, the heat wave which is affecting Canada’s north is expected to become cool soon but temperatures are still forecasted to remain dangerously high.

Officials say that, across Canada 639 active fires are burning and 351 are burning which cannot be controlled.

Canadian Forest service says that many residents were forced to leave from that area.

Some experts explain that the Arctic is warming up two- to-four times faster compared to the rest of the planet due to climate change.
