the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The project seeks to conduct bioprospecting for new chemicals and therapeutic candidates, as well as to generate genetic resources and contribute to the ecological restoration and coastal communities’ improved livelihoods.
Additionally, the minister proposed adding Kandhamal district in the National Network Program on Tribal Health and Nutrition, alongside Nabarangpur, a center-designated aspirational region in which ILS is currently working. He commended ILS for its critical role during the pandemic, which included rigorous testing and research initiatives on Delta variants.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, India’s Minister of State for Science, Technology, and Earth Sciences, commanded the meeting. Dr. Singh suggested that the facility should expand its skill development promotion programs by giving skill-based training to jobless individuals and science instructors in order to support government initiatives such as doubling farmer income, Poshan Abhiyan, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Skill India, and Startup.
During his speech, Dr. Ajay Parida, Director of ILS, Bhubaneswar, highlighted the institute’s key qualities, noting that the establishment of an immunogenicity platform has been authorized and the institute’s incubation center is performing effectively. He stated that the Review Committee lauded the institute for its sophisticated technical approach, excellent experimental methods, and time-bound results. The gathering was also addressed by Dr. Rajesh S Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, and Dr. Sanjay Mishra, Scientific Coordinator.
