Pakistani officers offer training for Libyan Army

-

Islamabad, Pakistan (CWBN)_ Military attaché for the Pakistani mission in Libya, Atef Talha, met with Libyan Defence Minister, Salahaddin Namroush, yesterday (14th Dec), in the hopes of extending bilateral military relations between the two countries.

It was reported by the Libyan Observer that the Ministry of Defence announced via Facebook that during the meeting, the parties had discussed the capabilities and experiences of the Pakistani military with regard to several areas, including counter-terrorism and organised crime.

It was added that Talha had offered to deliver Pakistan’s support to the Libyan military in the sectors of counter-terrorism and demining.

Moreover, just last month, Libyan forces completed an eight week training programme conducted by the Turkish Armed Forces, as per an agreement, the Government of National Accord (GNA), signed between the two countries, in November 2019.

Commenting on the concluded programme, Namroush noted that it was evident that the Libyan-Turkish military cooperation was fruitful.

Since the fall of the Gadhafi regime in 2011, Libya has been torn by civil war, which has drawn serious humanitarian concerns. Later in 2015 a new government was established with interventions of the United Nations, however, much still remains disputed in the region.
