President Buhari dissolves cabinet

-

Nigeria (Common Wealth) _ The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has been dissolved by President Muhammadu Buhari, signaling the end of the present administration. Through a late Sunday night message, the official announcement was made. The president, vice president, secretary to the government of the federation, the president’s chief of staff, head of service, and ministers are among the esteemed officials who make up the FEC.

The Nigerian government’s structure has undergone a significant alteration as a result of this dissolution. President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to take office as Nigeria’s new president today, on May 29, as the nation prepares for a new era.

It is remembered how the President congratulated each minister for their dedication to the cause during the closing remarks at the State House Council Chamber on Wednesday of the administration, pleading for support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the upcoming president.President Buhari thanked the ministers for cooperating closely despite several obstacles and difficulties and maintaining the synergy that resulted in numerous successes. He stated, “I am proud to say we gave our best.”

Before the cabinet was dissolved, the National Council for Democratic Development (NCDD), a non-governmental advocacy group, had urged President Muhammadu Buhari to rearrange his cabinet and get rid of those entangled in the race for the 2023 presidential election because they were allegedly abandoning his agenda for personal gain.

The group claimed that it had watched with dismay as the president’s fundamental programs were sacrificed on the altar of individual ambitions, causing advances made, particularly in agriculture and the anti-corruption crusade, to stop.

In a statement by its Executive Director, Prince Nweze Onu, the advocacy group stated that while 2023 was still a ways off, such political distractions may have a negative impact on the President’s program, which was why the call was necessary.

“Our group has closely monitored President Buhari’s performance and has noted significant improvements in infrastructure and agricultural growth. The fight against corruption has consistently been undertaken with the proper attitude and dedication.

“We have also noted that some of President Buhari’s designated ministers overseeing key ministries are not assisting him in fulfilling his campaign pledges to Nigerians, despite his tireless efforts in this area. We were shocked to see that several ministers had already started political organizations to carry out their 2023 plans agenda.

The upshot of this departure is that government resources and tools are now being utilized to further the political goals of these ministers, which interferes with their ability to carry out their assigned duties. According to the news, one of the ministers recently established a political party with open offices and noticeable posters in preparation for his 2023 presidential campaign. Such behavior betrays trust and is a diversion. We urge President Buhari to look into every Minister who has broken the law.

“Political ambitions in an administration that just received a fresh mandate from the people portend danger to the actualization of the promises of this administration and represents the most unpatriotic disposition by those who want to see official government business suffer, desire to consume everything but refuse to donate to our country. Such leaders should step down in order to pursue their goals, much as Hillary Clinton did when she withdrew from Obama’s second term in order to focus on her campaign for the presidency of the United States.

“In this vein, we hereby appeal to President Buhari to dissolve or reshuffle his administration in order to inject fresh blood and energy into his administration as a matter of serious national interest,” they stated.
