AFRICA ( Commonwealth Union) _  Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, President of the Republic, hosted a ceremony at State House for 22 retirees from the Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) who have clocked 36 years or more of continuous service. Among the 22 PUC employees who are retiring, Mr. Calix Francourt, who has been with the organization for 47 years, is notable.

The President expressed his deep gratitude to each of them for their many years of service and commended them for their commitment and professionalism during the years they have worked at PUC. He also expressed the hope that even after they retire, they will still make a positive difference for the organization and their country.

The president stated that he wanted to thank all of you for your dedication and hard work on behalf of the Seychelles people and on my own behalf. You have been devoted in all of your occupations, including providing Seychellois homes, businesses, and other services with water, electricity, and drainage facilities. Despite your retirement, I hope that you will still be able to contribute significantly to the PUC whenever needed thanks to your wealth of knowledge and experience.

Even before the then-Electricity and Water Divisions amalgamated to create PUC, Mr. Flavien Joubert, Minister for Agriculture, Environment, and Climate Change, acknowledged the retirees for their significant contributions and many years of service. The president further stated that he hopes they serve as an example for individuals who have begun careers at the PUC and for young people who want to work for the organization.

The PUC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Joel Valmont, the PUC’s Deputy Chief Executive, Mrs. Doreen Bradburn, the PUC’s Chairperson, Mr. Leonard Alvis, as well as other guests, were also present at the ceremony yesterday afternoon.
