Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (CU)_ Private hospitals in Penang, Malaysia, that have been designated as vaccination centers (PPVs) have gone beyond and taken extra efforts to make sure that the vaccination procedure runs smoothly. Dr Cheang Hon Kit, PPV centre coordinator at Lam Wah Ee Hospital (HLWE), said that all arrangements have been done, and that hospital staff members have informed all the vaccine recipients about their appointments.

Dr Cheang said, “Some people were surprised as we actually reminded them of their appointment via phone calls. We made sure that their information is correct and notified them about their upcoming vaccination appointment”. He said that in the event of missed appointments, the hospital has a backup name list to ensure that no immunizations are wasted. He said that currently the hospital plans to provide 200 vaccine doses per day with the aim of achieving herd immunity as quickly as possible.

Ganesh Rao Sannasi, the operation manager at Pantai Hospital Penang (PHP), said that individuals who got their Covid-19 immunization shot at the hospital’s PPV will get discounted parking rates and complementary goodie bags. He explained that the goodie bags included a complimentary bun from the hospital bakery, as well as hospital products for the recipients, as a gesture of gratitude for their help in making Malaysia a safer place.

Ganesh stated that the hospital’s current goal is to vaccinate 100 individuals every day to begin with, and subsequently expand the number dependending on their capacity. He said, “We have at least 30 medical personnel and support services manning our PPV, and we hope that all Penangites can do their part in receiving their vaccine shots”.
