Rained in holiday for schools

TAMIL NADU (Commonwealth Union) – In tropical countries such as India there is no chance of a snow day for students where school in cancelled on account of a heavy snow fall. However, we have something similar, it’s called a flood in or a rain in. This is what’s happening in a part of India right now.

With the heavy rains or monsoon season coming in, there have been floods in many parts of India, which means that people can’t leave their homes. The schools have been closed for a few days so that students don’t find themselves caught to the heavy rains and fall ill. There is also the fact that the floods have also caused damage and if the schools were to be kept open then the damage would be more.

After going through many lockdowns, the schools are trying hard to make sure that the students catch up on missed work and have not been giving as many holidays as they usually would. However, natural causes of course are not in anyone’s control. Whilst there is a forecaster its never 100% accurate.

Whilst in some areas there is online schooling, so the students still can manage to attend Zoom school when the weather is this bad, there are problems like signals and even the power going off. This could be seen as a holiday by the children but they would all have to stay indoors.

The Indian MET department has been working around the clock to make sure they give the most accurate predictions to the areas that are most likely to experience heavy rains and be flooded, so that they can take the needed precautions.

The schools where there are heavy rains have decided to give the students this week off hoping that the rains will cease later on and then schools can go on to be open.
