Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan marks a significant reunion for Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, who last appeared together in the 1991 classic Hum. At the film’s audio launch, Rajinikanth took a moment to reflect on Amitabh’s resilience during a difficult phase in his life, recalling how Bachchan faced financial struggles that led him to sell his Juhu home. Despite these challenges, Amitabh worked tirelessly, sometimes for 18 hours a day, to repay his debts, ultimately reclaiming his home and even purchasing additional properties in the same area.

Rajinikanth praised his co-star’s work ethic, stating, “For three years, despite having many health issues, he worked for 18 hours a day and cleared all his dues. Not just that he bought back the old house; he bought a total of three houses in that same lane. That’s Amitabh Bachchan! He is 82 now and still works for 10 hours a day.” Despite the film’s strong box office performance, critical reception has been mixed. Vettaiyan follows the story of Kanyakumari’s Superintendent of Police, Athiyan, who embarks on a drug case that unveils a deeper conspiracy, challenging both his personal life and professional duties.

As the film continues to perform at the box office, audiences are eager to see how Vettaiyan unfolds both in theatres and in discussions across various platforms, including Hindi and Telugu shows. With such a star-studded cast and a compelling storyline, Vettaiyan is poised to make a significant impact in the Mumbai industry and beyond.
