Here, they will have the chance to witness firsthand the cutting-edge efulfillment and intralogistics packaging solutions that IMA E-COMMERCE has to offer.
One of the highlights of IMA E-COMMERCE’s presentation is the E-CO Flex machine, a cutting-edge packaging equipment designed to streamline and accelerate the packaging process. Comprising two modules a multi-size case erector and a height-reduction box closer the E-CO Flex offers versatility and efficiency. These modules can be combined to create an automated packaging station or used as stand-alone equipment, accommodating various plant configurations and requirements. The packaging process with E-CO Flex is simple and efficient. The machine automatically selects the best-fit box size for the products to be packed, seamlessly integrating with the customer’s Warehouse Management System (WMS). Once the optimal case is identified, the machine retrieves the blank from the magazine, erects it, and tapes the bottom using water-activated tape. The pre-assembled container is then presented to the operator, who inserts the items to be shipped and adds the necessary dunnage. After filling the open-faced case, the operator returns it to the machine where any remaining void is measured. If needed, the E-CO Flex can automatically reduce the box height and close it, adjusting the flaps folding accordingly.
Automated packaging solutions like the E-CO Flex, with right-sizing capabilities, enable e-tailers to consolidate multiple stations into a single unit, thereby enhancing productivity and facilitating the transition from weight-based pricing to dimensional (DIM) weight. By minimizing cubic footage and reducing material usage, such solutions significantly optimize packaging efficiency and reduce costs. Moreover, the E-CO Flex is a modular solution designed to adapt to the evolving needs of logistics flows, making it suitable for both greenfield and brownfield plants. Visitors to LogiMAT can explore the box closing module of the E-CO Flex, where our experts will demonstrate its numerous features and benefits.
In addition to physical demonstrations, LogiMAT attendees can virtually explore the SealMatic, the latest addition to the IMA E-COMMERCE Series. This automatic case sealer is designed to efficiently close and seal FEFCO 201 cases at high speeds. Equipped with water-activated tape technology, SealMatic can process up to 20 boxes per minute without requiring operator intervention. SealMatic’s versatility extends to its ability to handle a wide range of case sizes, adjusting its mechanical movements according to the dimensions of the incoming box. The machine automatically folds the top flaps and seals both the top and bottom of the case with tape. Additionally, it can recognize SIOC (Ships In Own Container) cases and bypass them without taping. Optional features include the application of hazardous materials labels, print & apply of shipping labels, and quality inspection smart cameras for verifying correct flap folding, taping application, and tape leg length.
