(Commonwealth_ 2nd Level Global Solutions proudly introduces Solaris, an innovative, 100% paper, recyclable, and water-resistant thermal pallet cover designed to provide superior temperature protection for palletized goods during transit. This breakthrough product offers a sustainable alternative to conventional plastic thermal covers, addressing the critical environmental concerns surrounding plastic waste in the global logistics industry.

Mark Hammond, Commercial Director of 2nd Level Global Solutions, emphasizes the importance of Solaris in combating plastic waste: “Plastic thermal covers are widely used in global shipping but generate significant waste, with much of it ending up in landfills. Recycling these covers is often impractical due to their complex composite structure, which combines silver foil and plastic materials. Solaris eliminates this issue entirely. Constructed entirely from paper, Solaris is 100% recyclable, providing an environmentally friendly solution without compromising the protection of temperature-sensitive cargo.”

With Solaris, businesses can now safeguard their products sustainably while reducing their carbon footprint. Each Solaris pallet cover comes with an independently calculated Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) figure, measured using the ‘cradle-to-customer plus end of life’ lifecycle assessment approach. Solaris stands out as a revolutionary product in the logistics industry’s quest to reduce plastic waste.

Solaris’ design incorporates cutting-edge materials and engineering to ensure high performance. The high-tech paper construction has a white reflective coating that keeps heat in better and an innovative micro-convective air pocket that keeps temperatures from changing even more. Rigorous testing has shown that Solaris matches the performance of conventional plastic thermal covers, offering reliable protection for cargo even under challenging conditions.

In addition to temperature control, Solaris offers enhanced durability. It is both tear-resistant and water-resistant, safeguarding goods from physical damage, moisture, and other hazards during transit. These attributes make Solaris a dependable choice for industries that rely on the safe transportation of temperature-sensitive goods.

The Solaris range includes four distinct products, each tailored to meet specific operational needs:

Solaris 5: This model provides reliable thermal protection with six layers of tear-resistant, water-resistant specialty paper. It offers up to 7.5 hours of temperature protection at 40°C, making it ideal for short- to medium-duration shipments.

Solaris 10: Featuring 12 insulation layers, Solaris 10 extends temperature protection to nine hours, ensuring greater reliability for longer transit times.

Solaris 25: Designed as the thickest free-standing cover in the range, Solaris 25 incorporates 20 insulation layers, delivering up to 10 hours of temperature protection. Its robust construction makes it suitable for demanding applications.

Solaris S20: Constructed from structural corrugated cardboard, this model can sustain loads up to 500 kg when stacked on top. By enabling increased freight capacity, Solaris S20 significantly reduces transportation costs and carbon emissions. This efficient solution allows companies to transport more goods in a single trip, saving fuel and minimizing environmental impact. Solaris S20 builds on 2nd Level’s innovative Pallet Porter range, which also focuses on maximizing cube utilization while lowering environmental impact.

Solaris offers a high-performance, eco-friendly solution for industries such as pharmaceuticals and others that require precise temperature control during shipping. By adopting Solaris, companies can align their logistics operations with sustainability goals without compromising product safety or quality.

“With Solaris, we are offering businesses a sustainable way to protect their products while reducing their environmental impact,” Hammond added. “The logistics industry urgently needs alternatives that address the growing challenge of plastic waste, and Solaris delivers exactly that.”

Solaris represents a transformative step forward in sustainable logistics solutions. Its innovative design, robust performance, and eco-friendly composition reflect 2nd Level Global Solutions’ commitment to driving sustainability within the global supply chain. As industries continue to prioritize environmental responsibility, Solaris sets a new standard for thermal pallet covers, demonstrating that high performance and sustainability can coexist harmoniously.
