Harry Kane, the 29-year-old English forward and South Korean star Son Heung-min drew the loudest cheers at the Pan Pacific Hotel as they arrived at around 2.30 p.m. on Monday (July 24th ) with their Tottenham Hotspur teammates. Most of the fans that The Straits Times spoke to had come to see Kane and Son Heung-min but were ultimately disappointed that none of the Spurs players stopped for photographs or to sign autographs. Kane, Son, defender Christian Romero and new signing James Maddison were the only players who acknowledged their supporters when they stepped out of the team bus and strolled straight into the hotel.

A fan known as Joel wore a Spurs kit with ‘Harry Kane’ printed on his back, while Stephanie, his wife wore a jersey bearing Son’s name said he wanted to see Kane and the team up close as he didn’t think Kane would stay at the club for long and that this may be one of the last few times he could be seen while he was with Spurs. They were saddened that none of the players went over to the fans but said it was ok and that they would try again at the open training and the match.
Spurs are the first foreign team to arrive in Singapore for the Singapore Festival of Football, along with other teams Liverpool, Leicester City and Bayern Munich who will be participating. Other matches taking place during the week-long festival include Liverpool who are set to play Leicester on 30th July before taking on Bayern on 2nd August. The Reds will hold an open training session on 29th July, with the matches as well as the opening training session taking place at the National Stadium.
Spurs, who finished 8th in the English Premier League last season will host an open training session at the National Stadium on Tuesday, where they will face off against Singapore Premier League Club Lion City Sailors on Wednesday.
