Strengthening India-Sri Lanka relations through Ramayana

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has written to the Chief Priest and Treasurer of the Ayodhya Temple in UP India, His Holiness Swami Govind Dev Giriji Maharaj thanking him for the historic and ground breaking visit of Swamiji to Sri Lanka to strengthen India Sri Lanka relations and to start the promotion of the Rama Sita Pilgrimages by devout Hindus following the epic of the Ramayana – a corner stone of the Hindu Faith.

By this initiative HE the President has increased the potential of Indian Tourism to Sri Lanka by many millions per year. This will have a significant economic impact in Chilaw, Mannar, Anuradhapura, Hatton, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Hambatota, Kataragama, Galle and Kelaniya where thousands of devotees visit to worship.

Hon Niranjan Deva-Aditya initiated this visit with Mr. Muralidharan Murthy Chairman Commonwealth Peace Foundation and Global Peacemaker and Mr. Rogan Muralidharan Member of International Advisory Board of the Commonwealth Union and of India to promote closer bilateral relationship.

Each day over 150,000 pilgrims come to Ayodhya and even a fraction of them coming to complete the other half of the pilgrimage in Sri Lanka where Sita was held will have a huge impact on  earnings from tourism.
