The Bahrain Boxing Federation has unveiled plans for the continued elevation of Bahrain’s reputation regarding combat sports on a regional and global scale via the appointment of one of the world’s leading executives in the sports business, and an authority in sports development, Amer Abdallah as an advisor to the Bahrain Boxing Federation.
In addition to furthering Bahrain’s desires to be recognized as a strong regional boxing force, Abdallah brings a tremendous amount of boxing business experience developing the boxing business from its early roots in the Middle East, including the establishment of boxers’ development programs, boxing infrastructure and hosting numerous major international events on 5 different continents. Abdallah is credited with being one of the major contributors to the initial growth and development of professional boxing in the Middle East and has been instrumental in opening new opportunities to have professional boxing events held in the Middle East during its formative years.
Abdallah has had a strong impact on MMA through his work in professional boxing, including being a key element in the debut of Badou Jack Promotions launching their first professional boxing/kickboxing event in Dubai, which has solidified the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) place as an elite combat sports destination. He has also participated in many of the first professional boxing events in both the UAE and Libya. These events helped lay the foundation for the region’s growth on the global boxing map.
Abdallah’s new position in Bahrain is yet another chapter of his career intersecting with the development of the sport of boxing in the Middle East. Previously he served as the Head of Boxing for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a role that was appointed to him by His Highness Prince Khaled bin Abdulaziz Al Saud while during that time, Saudi Arabia became one of the fastest-growing combat sports markets in the world with major internationally televised events such as Anthony Joshua/Andy Ruiz II; Anthony Joshua/Oleksandr Usyk II and Jake Paul/Tommy Fury.
Abdallah is still involved in his career as a seasoned professional within the worldwide boxing community, filling numerous positions: Boxing Global Advisor, President of MF Pro Boxing, and Managing Partner of KRONK Gym (Detroit), he is currently working hard at all of them. The President of the Bahrain Boxing Federation, His Excellency Rashid Feleyfel, said, “This appointment is not only a major new strategic addition to us but one which supports our stated Vision for Progress.”
Abdallah mentioned that there is common ground between the Bahrain Boxing Federation and the Bahrain Boxers Community. A Blueprint has been created for the development of raising the standards of boxing in Bahrain from 2018 to 2019 for a period of twelve months. The federation will also demonstrate it plans to contend both regionally and globally, with the recent appointment of Irish Coach John Conlan and additional key appointments expected soon.
With the rising of boxing interest throughout the Middle East, Abdallah’s appointment with the Bahrain Boxing Federation represents more than simply adding another person to the federation; it shows a commitment from the federation to compete aggressively in the boxing world.
