Things Canadian travelers should know before embarking on their next vacation

-

Ontario, Canada (CU)_ Many keen travellers are planning on overseas travel as soon as possible following the recent announcement of eased quarantine regulations for Canadians who are fully vaccinated. According to Orion Travel Insurance, travelers should be aware that a Level 3 Global Affairs travel advisory is still in effect, and Canadians should be aware of the prevailing uncertainty that comes with overseas travel.

Kellee Irwin, Vice President, Orion Travel Insurance, advised the travellers. He said, “Entry requirements can vary by destination whether it be a different province, state or country. Travellers need to monitor those requirements closely and be prepared to carry additional documentation like proof of vaccination, and proof of valid COVID travel insurance. Many Canadians are excited to resume travelling, however a government advisory to avoid non-essential travel remains in place, and Canadians need to take the necessary precautions to ensure they protect themselves before embarking on their vacation.”

With several Canadians planning on future travels, Orion Travel Insurance wants to make sure they are all covered. Since July 1, Canadians who are fully vaccinated at least 14 days before their departure are entitled for full emergency medical coverage with Orion Travel Insurance, even if they are traveling during a Level 3 COVID-19-related travel advisory.

Irwin warned travelers about the changing insurance policies as a result of COVID-19. Hence, it is necessary to recheck your policy and understand your coverage before departing. He said, “Orion Travel Insurance supports the safe return to travel and recognizes the health and safety of Canadians should remain top of mind. We strongly encourage all travellers to ensure their travel insurance includes appropriate medical coverage, and that they continue to monitor evolving entry requirements of their destinations.”

Canadians who are planning a vacation in the near future should be aware of the following facts: 1. A Global Affairs travel advisory of Level 3 is still in effect. Canadians should take precautions to safeguard themselves and others before embarking on any type of vacation. 2. Canadians and permanent residents can upload a copy of their immunization certificates to the ArriveCAN app, which allows them to escape hotel quarantine after returning to Canada. 3. Traveling standards will differ depending on the destination, and not all services or businesses will be available or provide full services. Book your lodgings and activities ahead of time, and familiarize yourself with their protocols. 4. Take face masks, cleaning supplies, travel-sized food, water, and hand sanitizer during your trip, as well as at your destination. 5. To stay updated about the circumstances and any changes to entry criteria at your location, keep an eye on local media and government websites. 6. Make sure your passport is updated and ready to use. Also, keep in mind that extra papers, such as evidence of immunization, negative COVID test documentation, and proof of travel insurance, are necessary for your trip. 7. Insurance coverage differs depending on the supplier. Before you travel, review your policy and make sure you know what you are insured for. 8. Avoid travelling if anyone in your group or household is ill.
