Tributes continue to pour in for Tina Turner

Global (Commonwealth Union) – Tina Turner, the legendary rock ‘n’ roll singer, a global icon, and one of the most successful and beloved entertainers of all time, died Wednesday at her home in Zurich, Switzerland. She was 83. Turner’s death was made public by her publicist, Bernard Doherty. He did not give a cause of death, but Turner had been in poor health in recent years.

Turner was born with the name Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, in 1939. She began her singing career in the early 1950s, performing with Ike Turner and his Kings of Rhythm. In 1960, the couple married and went on to have a successful career together. They released a string of hit albums, including “River Deep – Mountain High” and 1971 “Proud Mary.”

Tributes continue to pour in from artists and fans across the globe. Many of her fans paid tribute by typing the words “Simply the best” referring to one of her signature hits from the album Foreign Affair from 1989.

Bryan Adams tweeted “I’ll be forever grateful for you bringing me on tour, going in the studio together and most of all, being your friend. Thank you for being  the inspiration to millions of people around the world for speaking your  truth and giving us the gift of your unbelievable voice.”  Which was in reference to a song they did together “It’s Only Love” on the tour.

Many other celebrities that included Gloria Gaynor, Diana Ross, Mick Jagger, and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys tweeted out messages of condolences recollecting her impact on the music industry and how she will be missed.

Turner was a survivor, and her story is an inspiration was an inspiration to many. She overcame many difficulties in life to become one of the most successful and beloved entertainers of all time. However, her most recent loss of her son was what she had described as most hard.
