NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, (CWBN)_ As the world waits for the outcome of the US Presidential election, the final Presidential debate will be held on Thursday 22 October.

The decisive and much-awaited final Presidential Debate between incumbent President Donald Trump and his Democratic rival Joe Biden in the run up to the November 3 Presidential Election, will be held at 21:00-22:30 ET (02:00-03:30 BST) at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

For the first time in history, the microphones of both candidates will be muted when the other is speaking to prevent the chaotic state that prevailed in the first debate. The new rule was adapted by the independent Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), following the first Presidential debate that turned out to be a disaster and is widely considered as the worse Presidential Debate ever held in the US. It turned into a shouting match that shocked the whole world. Fox News’ moderator Chris Wallace had a tough time keeping candidates Trump, 74, and Biden, 77, in check and was unable to prevent the President from constantly interrupting Biden.

The second debate was cancelled because, despite concerns over his Covid-19 diagnosis, Trump declined to participate in a virtual debate.

The debate, which will last for 90-minutes, will not have commercial breaks and be divided into six 15 minutes subdivisions and each candidate will be given two uninterrupted minutes, before the open debate commences.

The six subdivisions deal with following topics:

  • Fighting Covid-19
  • American Families
  • Race in America
  • Climate Change
  • National Security
  • Leadership

In addition to debate arrangements, the same safety protocols adopted at the first debate are expected to follow and the candidates will be positioned at a safe distance in accordance with Coronavirus social distancing measures. They will not be allowed to shake hands.

The final US Presidential debate will be under the direction of moderator Kristen Welker of NBC.
