Uganda’stop tourist destinations

UGANDA (Commonwealth Union)_Many tourists’ perceptions of Uganda are tainted by the ever-present menace of one Joseph Kony and his so-called Lord’s Resistance Army, yet the country is actually one of Africa’s rising stars.

Uganda is both safe and exciting. Hippos humph through the wetlands, as lions lounge amid the acacias. It’s a land of chimp-infested misty slopes and rain-stained woodlands. It is surrounded by the lapping waters of Lake Victoria and the twisting waterways of the Victoria Nile.

Views of rugged heights where waterfalls and thunderstorms converge, as well as isolated volcanoes with granite ribs, conquer the periphery. The metropolis of Kampala, in contrast, is vibrant and rich in tribal culture. It’s a top-notch African adventure all around!

Kampala

The ancestral capital of the Buganda kingdom is also the modern-day capital of Uganda. At the Kasubi Tombs, you can still see some of the former glory years’ thatched relics, or you can taste the frenetic energy of day-to-day Ugandan life; a place of throbbing markets (the city’s Owino market is said to be the largest in Central-east Africa), and echoing mosque minarets (the soaring Gaddafi National Mosque is a must!). Nakasero Hill, on the outskirts of town, is more formal, with well-to-do houses housing the country’s elite and foreigners mingling in the dilapidated taverns.

Kibale National Park

You will not be disappointed if you enter the vast Kibale National Park’s lush jungles and swamp woods! You can encounter these beautiful simians of Central Africa scouring through the undergrowth and commanding the canopy on game drives and safari trips of various kinds. Other interesting tiny monkeys to see include the rare L’Hoest’s and the Ugandan red colobus. It’s also feasible to gaze up at ancient fig trees and view some of the area’s more recent initiatives to establish sustainable coffee crops.

Ssese Islands

The Ssese Islands archipelago is Uganda’s response to the East African coast’s tropical gems on the Indian Ocean, with golden sands worthy of Latin America, sun-kissed beaches, and lapping waves. They are recognised as the country’s best rest and leisure destination, with the famous Buggala Island and Bulago at the top of the menu.

You might relax at one of the lakeside villas, or you can wax your walking boots and head for the hills, where hippo-dotted wetlands hide between the slopes. Buggala also offers kayaks and other activities.
