Further, the ambassador promised Bangladesh that the US will support its development efforts and goals. He also complimented the efforts of the Bangladesh government, especially the vaccine campaign, to address the health and socioeconomic difficulties induced by the Covid-19 outbreak.
Kamal stated at the discussion that Bangladesh’s diplomatic relations with the US had extended into a variety of spheres, including trade and business. According to Kamal, Bangladesh is not a development miracle anymore. The country is now a role model of progress for other developing nations.

Kamal stated that Bangladesh now ranks 41st in the world in terms of economic size, up from 60th in 2006. He said, “After independence, it took 38 years for our economy to reach $100 billion in GDP [gross domestic product], but in the last 12 years, it has quadrupled to $411 billion.”
Additionally, the finance minister encouraged the US ambassador to take the lead in attracting additional investment to Bangladesh. He also expressed gratitude to the United States for its numerous contributions, including vaccine supply to Bangladesh during the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.
