Meanwhile, the Taliban reiterated its call for an “immediate” withdrawal of foreign forces, accusing Washington of breaching the accord secured by the Trump administration, by failing to make good on its promise to completely withdraw troops by 1 May. Therefore, the Islamic fundamentalist group claimed that America will be held responsible for all measures taken by their fighters in the future.

On the other hand, Blinken warned the Taliban that America would make “a very forceful response” if their insurgents launch any attack on American troops as the pull out.

During his eight-hour visit, the top US diplomat also met with the chief of Afghanistan’s High Council for National Reconciliation, Abdullah Abdullah, who expressed his support for Washington’s decision, adding that this would be “a new chapter” of relations between the two countries.

“This does not mean the end of relations and cooperation between the two countries. A new chapter of relations and cooperation between the two countries has returned and we will continue our cooperation in various fields in this chapter,” he said in a statement.
