Mumbai, India (CWBN)_ The popular Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday. The actor expressed grief that despite being extra careful, he somehow contracted the virus. The actor was shooting for his upcoming project Jug Jugg Jeeyo in Chandigarh when he contracted the virus. The young actor who is active in social media platforms has confirmed the news in his Instagram page too.

Varun shared a screenshot of his video call in his Instagram and wrote, “VITAMIN FRIENDS. So as I returned to work in the pandemic era I have contracted covid-19. Not only did Varun, but also his senior co-star Neetu Kapoor and director Raj Mehta of Jug Jugg Jeeyo also test positive for the virus. But Anil Kapoor and Kiara Advani screened negative. Close sources said that Varun and Raj Mehta have quarantined themselves in Chandigarh. They said, “Varun and even the director have tested positive, though both of them have decided to stay there”.

News from close sources said that once Neetu Kapoor was tested positive for the virus, she flew back to Mumbai after her son Ranbir Kapoor made all arrangements. The sources said, “She tested positive for Covid-19 today. So, Ranbir organized the air ambulance for her, to get her back. If she’s here, she will get proper hospitalization and isolation otherwise she was alone in Chandigarh”

Anil Kapoor was earlier rumored to have contracted the virus. But taking the issue to Twitter, he cleared the speculations saying that he tested negative. He wrote, “In the interest of putting any rumors to rest, I have tested negative for COVID-19. Thank you all for your concern and good wishes.”

Before beginning the film shoot last month, the cast and crew had undergone a screening. Neetu Kapoor posted on Instagram in November that the cast was “COVID tested and safe” ahead of the start of shooting. The movie Jug Jugg Jeeyo, backed by the filmmaker Karan Johar, is Neetu Kapoor’s return to the big screen.
