Western Canada School Tragedy: Key Details From the Tumbler Ridge Attack

Police say that 9 people have been killed, with 25 others injured in related shootings at a school and home in western Canada.

7 were fatally wounded at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, whilst 2 other victims were found at a nearby residence, with authorities yet to disclose their names or ages.

Officials say that the suspect was also found dead from a self-inflicted injury.

Authorities say that they are aware of the attacker’s identity, although they’ve not revealed their name and gender. Earlier, a shelter-in-place alert described the suspect as a ‘female in a dress with brown hair’.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says he’s ‘devastated’ by these horrific shootings and has suspended a planned trip to Germany.

Police are yet to identify the type of gun used in this attack, which is the 2nd deadliest on a school in Canadian history.

Victoria Police releases a statement that says that they are deeply saddened by the tragic mass shooting in ‘Tumbler Ridge’.

British Columbia’s Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General Nina Krieger said that police arrived at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School within 2 minutes of receiving the distress call of an active shooting.

Krieger added that it was a small, tight-knit community and thanked the responding officers for their courage, dedication, and professionalism. No doubt, Krieger added, they were saving lives today.

Earlier in a statement, Krieger expressed that the devastating events were causing shockwaves throughout the community and the entire province.

6 victims were found dead inside Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. The 7th person dies en route to the hospital. The body of the attacker was also found at the referred school.

2 more people were found dead inside a residence in the neighbourhood of the school.

At least two other people were hospitalised with serious or life-threatening injuries following this attack. As many as 25 people were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, said police.
