NEW DELHI (CU)_In November last year, at the UN climate conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi committed to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in the South Asian nation by 2070, a decade after China and two decades after the US. At the time, the Indian leader also said that his country would increase its capacity of non-fossil fuel electricity to 500 gigawatts, with plans to meet half of its energy needs using clean energy sources. However, four months after these commitments were announced, Delhi is yet to submit its targets for slashing greenhouse gas emissions.
