Cape Town, South Africa (CWBN)_ The corruption trial against former president, Jacob Zumma, and French arms company, Thales Group, which was due to proceed tomorrow (8th Dec) at the Pietermaritzburg High Court, has been postponed, based on a mutual agreement with the National Prosecution Authority (NPA).

A source claimed that ““By mutual agreement, parties agreed after a meeting that the matter should be postponed to a later date. So this means Zuma would not be in court on Tuesday as expected.”

The NPA has confirmed the agreement, however, on Sunday (6th Dec), it was stated that the decision was not authorised by a judge.

Nkosentsha Shezi, Chairman of the Radical Economic Transformation Champions in KwaZulu-Natal and a loyal supporter of Zumma, claimed he agreed with the masses calling for the case to be struck down.

The company has been accused of bribing Zumma over arms tenders carried out between 1998 and 1999, which included an annual sum of ZAR 500,000 (over USD 32,000).

NPA reported its case is backed by 210 State witnesses and the High Court has been notified of the fact. The body has declined to identify the witnesses.
