A high-level delegation consisting of 29 senior Australian investors and industry leaders has arrived in Jakarta to further strengthen economic ties with Indonesia. The delegation, which represents key sectors such as mining, healthcare, infrastructure, and finance, is set to unlock new investment opportunities and remove existing regulatory barriers.

The delegation is headed by Mr. Nicholas Moore AO, Special Envoy for Southeast Asia, and Professor Jennifer Westacott AC, Business Champion for Indonesia. This is the fifth major delegation since the launch of Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy for 2040 in 2023. The delegation is a testament to Australia’s commitment to Southeast Asia as a foundation for its future prosperity.

Some of the activities that the delegation will undertake include the Indonesia Economic Summit 2026 which aligns with the national reform agenda of Indonesia. The delegation will also participate in the inaugural Indonesia-Australia Business Roundtable, and the discussions will center on how the General Review of the IA-CEPA can improve investment opportunities in the green economy, digital economy, and urban infrastructure.

One of the key elements of the mission is the launch of the second edition of Invested: Indonesia to 2040—Opportunities and Pathways for Australian Investors. This resource has been created by the Australian Investment Deal Team in partnership with the Indonesia Business Council and contains sector-specific case studies and information on government-supported investment platforms to help guide investors on the ground.

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is leading this initiative, with Austrade CEO Dr. Paul Grimes PSM participating in the mission. Austrade’s Deal Teams, a partnership with Export Finance Australia and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, have offices in Jakarta, Singapore, and Ho Chi Minh City and are designed to fill the gap between Australian capital and Southeast Asian opportunities.

Through the establishment of these direct links and the provision of updated market intelligence, the Australian Government seeks to translate strategic policy into practical commercial outcomes, ensuring that Indonesia remains a core destination for Australian outward investment through 2040.
