Stalin, the opposition alliance of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the BJP, and Vijay’s newly formed TVK. Although TVK narrowly missed the majority mark, the party’s remarkable debut has already changed the political landscape in Tamil Nadu. Vijay’s transition from one of South India’s biggest film stars to a serious political force is now being viewed as the beginning of an entirely new chapter in the state’s politics.
