The Commonwealth Digital Financiers Network (CDFN), in collaboration with GBSB Global Business School, Spain, conducted a 90-minute webinar that commenced at 1500 hrs (IST) on Friday, 7 August ’26, on this topic.

The Honourable Chevalier Niranjan Deva Aditya (Nirj Deva) began the webinar with a pre-recorded welcome message. Thereafter, Dr. Anshul Gupta, Chairman of CDFN, addressed the webinar participants and CDFN and declared the official opening of the webinar. This was followed by Dr. Dinesh Kanagarathnam, CEO, CDFN, making a presentation on digital transformation & the evolving landscape of financial services. The keynote address by Dr. Joseph Mallia of GBSB Global Business School. Dr. Mallia is an enterprise architect & a digital transformation expert.

Before the keynote address, Dr. Mallia introduced GBSB Global Business School with a brief promotional video clip. The video highlighted that GBSB has physical campuses located in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain, as well as in Birkikara, Malta. Besides that, it also offers online innovative undergraduate & graduate programs taught entirely in English. GBSB’s accreditations, rankings & global recognitions cited Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF), ACBSP accredited, ASIC premier accredited ’23-’27, QS rated excellent, Forbes & Elmundo. GBSB presently moves with 3 foundations, 53 undergraduates, 57 masters, 7 MBAs, 2 PHDs, and 26 executive master’s programs.

The keynote address began with an evolution of banking, moving on to different modes of banking. There was reference to ecosystems spanning banking, customer, and partner besides digital banking.

Key challenges touched on high fees associated with traditional as opposed to digital banking. Also supported infographics on the disappearing bank branches in both the U.S. & Europe. Traditional vs. decentralized financial systems were touched on. EUDI Wallet was briefed. Brands of a few global digital banks were shared as successful case studies. Branchless banking was elaborated. The required supportive legislative framework & public trust were also included. Change management during digital transformation was covered in detail, citing a few change models/frameworks.

At the end of the keynote address, a further 10 minutes of interactive Question & Answer (Q&A) session on chatbox was facilitated to webinar participants.
