From Property Sales to YouTube: How a Sri Lankan Developer Built a Digital Audience

A silver medal, which was previously associated with Internet influencers, is now making a welcome appearance in the real estate industry of Sri Lanka, owing to Prime Lands becoming the first real estate developer in the country receiving YouTube’s newly introduced Silver Play Button Award.

This achievement will pave the way for Prime Lands after its YouTube channel surpassed the 100,000-subscriber mark. The achievement has been reported in a piece of news published by the Daily News on September 21, 2026, while other local business news outlets reported the milestone on September 18, 2026.

However, what makes this achievement even more remarkable is the growth that has occurred since crossing the 100,000-subscriber threshold. Prime Lands states that its YouTube community has today surpassed 600,000 subscribers, so its digital audience is already far higher than that needed for the Silver award.

YouTube receives the Silver Creator Award only after a channel reaches 100,000 subscribers. The next milestones are 1 million for Gold, 10 million for Diamond, and 100 million for Red Diamond. Yet, just achieving a particular subscriber figure does not grant an award, as YouTube checks the channels’ compliance with rules and requirements, originality, and activity level, among other factors.

For Prime Lands, the meaning is far more than just a marketing achievement. The company has started using YouTube as a platform to showcase the real estate purchase process in a different way: the firm has created video guides, project presentations, construction progress videos, and local area information. Such an approach allows prospective buyers to view the objects of their interest before making one of the most important purchases in their lives.

This change is remarkable considering that for years the real estate business relied solely on personal visits to various locations, printed advertising materials, showrooms, and outdoor advertising. However, having opened a channel on YouTube, the possibilities have changed drastically: now buyers can view the projects from their mobile phones, go to the construction site as many times as necessary, and compare the property they want.

Ruminda Randeniya, the CEO and Executive Director of Prime Lands, mentioned that the company strives to provide more transparency and reassurance to its clients. He emphasized that the company’s YouTube ride has revolutionized the property information and opportunities at people’s disposal.

The company’s online achievements coincide with Prime Group’s 30th anniversary in 2026. Therefore, three decades of classic real estate development come together with a new digital era of the company’s operations. As per the company’s information, Prime Lands is involved in over 70 housing projects and apartment developments as well as 10,000 land projects around Sri Lanka.

The reason why the Silver Play Button can be rightly considered so fascinating is that it signifies something alien to the old understanding of an award presented to a corporate player. Its value, in essence, lies in the measure of the audience’s attention. Nowadays, when people tend to investigate products before buying them, it is worth noting that the number of 600,000 subscribers means that there is not simply an audience of viewers but rather a certain digitally consolidated community.

As a result, the accomplishment of Prime Lands is a reflection of the latest trend that rocks the real estate market: the competition for customers no longer starts at the entrance of a building. It can be definitely stated that it starts from a screen.
