NEW DELHI, India (CWBN)_ 43 Chinese mobile applications (apps) have been banned by India on Tuesday (November 24). The list includes the AliSuppliers Mobile App, Alibaba Workbench, AliExpress, Alipay Cashier as well as popular Chinese dating apps.
“This action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order. Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued the order for blocking the access of these apps by users in India based on the comprehensive reports received from Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center, Ministry of Home Affairs,” a media release issued by the Indian Ministry of Electronics and IT read.
The move comes amidst border tensions between India and China regarding the Ladakh region of India, which both countries claim as their own.
