Pakistan and Turkey ramp up military cooperation

Islamabad, Pakistan (CWBN)_ A statement released by Pakistan Minister of Defence Prevez Khattak announced yesterday that, subsequent to the fifteenth session of the Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Military Dialogue Group, bilateral military cooperation between the two countries will be extended.

“During the HLMDG meeting, both delegations discussed all avenues of cooperation in military training, education, counter-terrorism, and defence industry cooperation including joint production and procurement. Both sides shared perspectives on prevailing regional environment including the Middle East, South Asia, and Afghanistan,” the statement said.’

Furthermore, the prevailing situation in the Middle East, Afghanistan and South Asia were also discussed.

It was reported that the Turkish delegation was led by Deputy Chief of General Staff, General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, and the Pakistani delegation led by Defence Secretary, Lieutenant General (Retd) Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain.

Moreover, members of the Pakistani delegation, including Hussain, also met with Turkish Minster of Defence, Hulusi Akar, Chief of General Staff, General Yasar Guler, CEO of Turkish Aerospace Industries, Dr. Temil Kotil, and Head of Presidency of Turkish Defence Industries, Professor Ismail Demir.

The delegation also called on several Turkish defence firms.
