Pakistan (Commonwealth Union)_ Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed confidence that Pakistan has the potential to become a rising economy and fix its financial issues despite its challenging economic situation. During a media interview at the Munich Security Conference, he stated that the Ukraine conflict and floods had severely impacted Pakistan’s economy. According to him, Pakistan was in a period in which unconstitutional actions could not be conducted. The minister also discussed climate change, the economy of his nation, and the situation in Afghanistan.

Responding to a query, he stated that the suggestions of Defense Minister Khawaja Asif must be viewed in the context of Pakistan’s political and economic difficulties. He also stated that a major portion of Pakistan was inundated by floods as a result of climate change. According to him, the floods had altered the direction of Pakistan’s economy, which was still unable to escape financial troubles and had to negotiate with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Bilawal stated that the vote of confidence that led to the dismissal of former prime minister Imran Khan was a democratic and institutional landmark. Although supporters of Imran Khan may not have liked the result of the non-confidence motion, the fact that the democratic process was followed represents a significant milestone in the country’s history. He also stated that Imran Khan may make a return if he pursued the route of democracy, but that his current undemocratic stance would not be advantageous to him. He said, “If Imran Khan does not adopt a democratic path then he has no political future.”

According to Bilawal, democratic-minded individuals should be supported, noting that more than half of the country’s history was spent under direct dictatorship and various stages of transition. He also stated it should be remembered that throughout the country’s history, undemocratic forces have held power, but democracy has always returned. The minister further added that Pakistan was harmed by the recent terrorist attacks in Peshawar and Karachi and that the US departure from Afghanistan had led to an increase in terrorism. He also pledged to combat terroris on Pakistani soil while emphasizing that the threats posed by terrorism might be mitigated by resolving the problems in Afghanistan.
