India (Commonwealth Union)_ The JAIN Group of Institutions in India has made a significant commitment to educate one hundred thousand Zambian teachers in digital technology, signaling a valuable partnership. The Minister of Education, Douglas Syakalima, expressed his appreciation for the timely collaboration, as Information Communication and Technology (ICT) subjects are being introduced in Zambian schools. In his address at the inauguration, read by Amos Mumba, Director of Education Universities at the Ministry of Education, Mr. Syakalima emphasized the immediate need to equip staff with the latest technology in order to improve efficiency and service delivery to students nationwide.

The Minister recognized that such training plays a crucial role in fostering a mindset change, enhancing computer literacy among teachers, promoting efficiency within the education sector, and responding to the demand for digital transformation to boost Zambia’s economic development. He also highlighted President Hakainde Hichilema’s keen interest in the resources provided by the JAIN Group of Institutions for the digital training of teachers throughout the country. According to Mr Sykalima, “This kind of engagement will surely benefit our people. The collaboration between the African Nations Poverty Fund and JAIN University has brought relief to our citizens who have been awarded special scholarships under the vice chancellor’s scholarship program”. He guaranteed that his office would closely collaborate with the African Nations Poverty Fund and JAIN University to identify teachers who could promptly enroll in the digital education programs of the JAIN Group of Institutions. The Minister expressed gratitude to JAIN Group, in association with the African Nations Poverty Fund, for increasing the provision of free tertiary education in Zambia.

According to Chenraj Roychand, founder of JAIN University, this partnership aims to support the accessibility of affordable tertiary education as well as empower Zambians, fostering self-reliance and poverty reduction. Dr. Roychand also highlighted Zambia’s steady economic growth and emphasized the necessity of establishing an ecosystem that provides globally accepted empowerment opportunities. In addition to training thousands of teachers through online courses, JAIN Group of Institutions plans to establish a skills training center to augment Zambia’s human capital. Dr. Roychand highlighted Zambia’s potential for mass production of goods and services if the right expertise is made available, which is precisely the goal of this partnership.
