A confrontation by migrants is possible  soon due to policies!

Australia (Common Wealth) _ Anthony Albanese’s Australian government is currently undergoing a substantial reform of its immigration policies. It is holding a nationwide survey as Clare O’Neil, the federal minister in charge of migration, works to shape the recommendations of a major review launched shortly after she took office in 2022.

While policy improvements are beneficial and appear to be really moving towards a better, more efficient, and humane migration system – notably with regard to student and working visas – underlying historic concerns remain, which are mainly outside the government’s control.

A major labor shortage in particular sectors of the workforce, where vacancies can only be supplied in the short to medium term by migrants, is one of the factors. . In 2022, there will be 286 occupations with a labor shortage, up from 153 the previous year. Nursing, elderly and child care, education, construction, and engineering are the industries with the most shortages.

The report of the review committee was released in March and includes a number of recommendations. An summary of potential policy reforms issued in April includes aspirational wording about prioritizing economic outcomes and incorporating sustainable systems.

Another two policy changes aim to delve deeper into some more serious topics. The first is concerned with “ensuring adequate investment in housing, infrastructure, and services to secure the benefits of migration.” “We will also do more to assist migrants in achieving better labor market outcomes, and we will do more to design exploitation out of the migration system,” the administration said.

The second intends to “concentrate on integrity measures in order to rid the system of abuse.” The inclusion of such objectives is positive for potential long-term tourists and migrants considering coming to Australia, and the government’s willingness to take a go at them is admirable.

However, difficulties like as housing, infrastructure, and services related to the migrant experience are massive. These are regions with many moving pieces, some of which have little to do with immigration, and it is difficult to see how the identified difficulties in these areas may be resolved in the short term.

The second policy move involves even more complicated concerns, including Australia’s long history of discrimination. The Immigration Restriction Act, also known as the White Australia policy, was one of Australia’s first legislative moves after becoming a nation in 1901.

This was done to ensure the new nation’s “purity” of race. “This country shall remain forever,” Prime Minister John Curtin famously declared in the 1940s.  Visitors from Asia and elsewhere can also contribute to the solution, and they can be certain that there are still enough of people who will welcome those willing to give Australia a try.
