Europe UK (Commonwealth Union) –   HIV transmissions rates have seen a rapid decline since 2019 as indicated in England’s HIV Action Plan.

The country is on track to reach the goal set in January 2019 that can bring down new HIV transmissions by 80 percent in 2025 while halting new transmissions by 2030.

It was indicated in a statement that the rates of HIV diagnosis had gone down by roughly a 3rd from 2019 – 2021 with more than a 5th for AIDS.

The National Health Service (NHS) England had put in £20 million in funds to take further HIV opt out testing in places that have the highest rates which assisted in the diagnosis of 2000 cases of blood-borne viruses in the 1st year that the programme took place.

Over the years many campaigns to conduct more tests and raise more awareness HIV and AIDS has gained a lot of traction across the world. By giving priority to the disease much of the public has responded positively.

With new HIV transmission rates in England going down by roughly a 3rd since 2019, while lesser individuals with no knowledge of their HIV status as a result of increasing testing across the nation, as indicated for the HIV Action Plan for England.

“It’s hugely encouraging to see the progress made so far in our goal to end new HIV transmissions as well as AIDS and HIV-related deaths in England by 2030,” said Health Minister Neil O’Brien

“Since the HIV Action Plan was launched in 2019, we have been working hard to reduce new infections by tackling stigma and urging more people to get tested, as well as helping people to access potentially life-saving treatment.”

The number of individuals taking up sexual health services as a result of their partner getting a notification of positive HIV diagnosis saw a drop by roughly half for the same period, from 1,558 – 820 as well.
