India (Common Wealth) _ Tata Technologies Ltd., a global engineering and product development digital services provider, announced that it has joined AUTOSAR, a global development alliance, as a premium partner.

Peugeot Citroen Automobiles S.A., Continental AG, BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota Motor Corporation, Ford, GM, DaimlerChrysler, PSA, Toyota, Bosch, and Siemens are among AUTOSAR’s global partners.

This collaboration strengthens our commitment to the automotive industry and allows us to collaborate more closely with the other members to develop and implement open standards that aim to improve the efficiency of the development process, reduce costs, and improve overall vehicle quality, said Tata Technologies CEO Warren Harris.

Tata Technologies will contribute to the creation of new concepts and standards across these platforms with their considerable experience in the automotive area and knowledge in both AUTOSAR Platforms, according to AUTOSAR Chairperson Thomas Rüping.

Tata Technologies stated that it aims to standardize the software architecture of vehicle electronic control units (ECUs) in order to improve the overall efficacy of automotive system software development and integration.

Tata Technologies indicated that it aims to collaborate with AUTOSAR through this connection to build new standards and software architecture for future automotive systems. It also intends to promote and assist the global adoption of AUTOSAR standards.

Because of the rapid development of software defined vehicles (SDVs), the functionality and architectural complexity of automotive software vehicle manufacturers’ development costs and timelines are increasing, the report said.

The rapid evolution of software defined vehicles (SDVs) has increased the complexity of automotive software in terms of functionality and architecture, causing vehicle makers to incur more development costs and time. This expansion is exacerbated by the shift toward centralized electrical/electronic (E/E) designs powered by high-performance computer units handling mixed-critical safety applications. AUTOSAR, by providing standardization and a core framework, plays a critical role in tackling these difficulties.

We think that Tata Technologies’ extensive automotive domain knowledge and understanding of the physical and digital layers of automotive product engineering enable it to develop safety critical automotive software with global OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. Tata Technologies intends to engage with AUTOSAR in the development of new standards and software architecture for future vehicle systems through this relationship, as well as to promote and enable the global adoption of AUTOSAR standards.

AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture (AUTOSAR) is a 2003 development partnership of automotive stakeholders. Its goal is to develop and implement an open and standardized software architecture for automotive electronic control units (ECUs). Scalability to numerous vehicle and platform versions, software transferability, consideration of availability and safety needs, collaboration among various partners, sustainable use of natural resources, and maintainability throughout the product lifecycle are all goals.
